The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices

€389 per person

Once Upon A Time… an exceptional choir. The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices is a unique ensemble, created in the early 1950’s, consisting of 20 or so Bulgarian artists, under the direction of Dora Hristova. They sing about legends of unknown lands, the mysteries of life and travels throughout Bulgaria. Since being discovered by the European and American public in the eighties, The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices has touched many generations and has performed over 1500 concerts in some of most prestigious venues in the world. The choir has inspired many other artists and has collaborated with the likes of Kate Bush, U2 and more recently Lisa Gerrard, the singer from Dead Can Dance. Many of their songs have been remixed by people like Drake, DJ Tiesto, FKA Twigs, Bring Me The Horizon and many more.

Join Once Upon A Time for a unique, once-in-a lifetime concert by The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices in Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital and birthplace of the choir, on Monday 13 December 2021. And as we don’t tend do things like anybody else, we’d also like to offer you a workshop of a couple of hours with a few of the singers, as well as a “Meet & Greet” after the concert where you’ll be able to meet these amazing artists and have a chat with them.

And of course… we’re also offering yoga classes and a visit to Sofia, where we will introduce you to a few remarkable restaurants. If the weather permits we can add in a hike in Pancharevo (15 minutes from Sofia).

Program

The concert takes place on Monday 13 December, 2021 at 19:00 at the “Bulgaria Hall” in Sofia and here’s what we have lined up for you:

Sofia

Sofia is the capital, as well as the largest city in Bulgaria. It is also the economic and cultural heart of the country. It is in constant development and is attracting increasingly more people, which makes it one of Europe’s biggest cities – ranked as the 15th largest city in Europe – with a population of close to 2 million inhabitants. Sofia is also a university centre, with the university of “St. Kliment Ohridski” being the oldest and most prestigious.

Sofia is, above all else, a delightful and happy place and occasionally a bit confusing too. There is no shortage of architectural gems such as the incredible Alexander-Nevski Cathedral, the Saint Sophia Church and the Saint George Rotunda. This ancestral heritage is interwoven with buildings and monuments from the communist era, which give this European capital such a distinct quality. Sofia is also chock-full of vast parks and public gardens, restaurants and funky bars, not to mention its many galleries and museums.
